Ahead of the release of their debut album, indie trio ZIBRA have announced a new single called ‘Girls Like You’, which is due for release on July 1st.
The track is the perfect summer anthem to lure you on to any dance floor and follows on from their previous single ‘Wasted Days’. ‘Girls Like You’ is a thrill chasing rollercoaster filled with a dirty basslien, kamikaze synths and fist pumping rhythms, a further example of what is evidently becoming ZIBRA’s signature sound.
Speaking about the track, front man Sam Battle revealed: “‘Girls Like You’ is about all of us really, no one really being ourselves. Which is fine you know, but we wrote a song about it. We got the guitar pedals out for this one, so it’s a bit more grotty on the guitar side of things sound wise than out previous tracks…”
ZIBRA have garnered excellent support from numerous musical outlets:
Buzzy Cambridgeshire trio serve up a wholesome slice of indie funk…it’s all about the rhythm & groove’ – NME
‘ZIBRA make unashamedly modern pop with dance beats that you can’t help grooving to’ – DAILY MIRROR
‘ZIBRA are a throwback to the good old days of homemade indie pop’ – DAILY STAR
‘ZIBRA burst onto the scene last year with an electrifying blend of indie and electronic.’ – CLASH
They have also received support from Radio 1 for their tracks ‘Chlorine’, ‘Paris’, ‘Great White Shark’ and most recently, ‘Wasted Days’. ‘Paris’ was added to Radio 1’s ‘In New Music We Trust’ playlist and culminated with the band headlining the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury in 2015.
ZIBRA, made up of lead singer/guitarist Sam Battle, bassist Ben Everest and Russ Harley on synths, have toured the UK supporting Years and Years, Saint Raymond, Coasts and Rat Boy. This has allowed them to rapidly build a loyal live fanbase.
If you fancy catching the band live, they will be performing at the following over the next few months:
